What better way to waste time waiting for work to finish than to ramble on in a blog. Well, OK, I can think of far better things to do, but anyway.
So there are only 24 minutes left until the weekend begins, and what an amazing day to begin it on! Blue skies, bright sunshine and even some warmth in the air. Lets hope it stays like this, Glasgow has had more than its fair share of poor weather recently.
So I'm off up to Stirling this evening, to give a mate an old monitor I've got lying about. What use is his PC without a monitor after all?
Right, 21 minutes to go now...

It's weird what you end up taking pictures of. I mean, since I've had a reasonably 'decent' camera, I've taken pictures of almost anything. At the time I took the picture I probably didn't think much about it - maybe just "isn't that a nice sky" or "hmm, that's a cool looking building" - but only now when I'm looking back on early pictures do I really appreciate them.
Not really because they are good pictures, or because of what they're of - just because they're there, and I'm glad that I took them if only to document the past. "Isn't that what pictures are meant to do?" you ask; Well, yes, I guess it is really, but I think this is more about how I'm taking so many more pictures now that I can afford to (digital). It's like creating a written diary, but using pictures instead of words. The words come flooding back when you see the pictures, and like they say, a picture can tell a thousand words.
Anyway, how did I end up thinking about this? I was looking through my original 350D photos, and found an old favourite (Anniesland Court) - I then took a look at the date the shot was taken. And it dawned on me; this picture was taken exactly 1 year ago - 19th April 2005. And I just thought that was pretty cool :-)

Well that was about the best £13.55 I've ever spent! Glasgow to Fort William and back again, in less than a day, with almost every type of weather I could imagine and some absolutely stunning lighting. Really great value! But being worried about not getting on the train, and having to get up at half 5 in the morning takes it out of you; I'm bloody tired now. Time for a lazy evening I think...

It's Saturday night, except for some reason it feels much more like a weekday that I've taken off for a holiday. Maybe it's because I had yesterday off?
Anyway... I'm just waiting for the water to finish filtering and then I'm gonna make a nice hot drink. I bought a ticket today for the sleeper to Fort William, except the girl couldn't book me a seat on it! Now I'm not sure if I'll be able to get on the train at all, which could be rather dissapointing, and a pain as the journey means getting up at half 5 in the morning. I mean, if I can't get on, what the hell else is there to do at that time of day!!? I live in hope...

My adapter ring arrived! Hurrah! I can tell I'm gonna have a lot of fun with these ND filters... ;-)

Well, I've decided that the next lens I buy will be the Canon 15mm fisheye. I've seen so many great shots taken with it that stemmed around the simple idea of symmetry. It just looks perfect for urban photography; quick, discreet, and puts a different slant on plain looking day to day views. Cool.
Since money is tight just now, I've put a few bits on eBay to try and fund the habit. Anyone wanting a good deal on a nice new X1900XTX graphics card should definitely check out http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=6869242032&ssPageName=STRK:MESE:IT :-)
Hopefully my 77mm adapter ring will turn up tomorrow, allowing me to play about with my new Cokin ND Graduated Grey filters!

What is it about Saturdays that makes them so special? I mean, I woke up this morning thinking "Hurrah! It's Saturday!" - but now I'm back home and Saturday is all gone. And it doesn't really feel like I've accomplished much, when in fact the reality is quite different. For one, I ended up wandering the streets of Govan (please take note, don't do this), and for another, I've been round the Glasgow Science Centre - or at least the outside of it anyway!
Anyways, it's getting late, and I intend to squeeze just that little bit more out of this particular Saturday while I can!
